Some of the most unusual items sold on auction for high amounts of money

There have been some items that have sold for large sums of money that you wouldn't believe would sell for that amount due to the item itself.  According to CNN, in Auckland  New Zealand a rare houseplant named Rhaphidophora Tetraspema sold for 19,297 dollars. This is the highest amount ever paid for a plant in history.  I hope the buyer has a green thumb.

Some other unusual items that sold for large sums of money are an original Leonardo DiVinci painting named "Salvator Mundi" for 382 million.  It was believed to be a fake originally when bought in the 1950s.

According to Catawiki some of the other items that sold for large sums of money were the world's smallest bible printed in 1727 for 2,400.

The oldest meteorite on earth sold for 16,000.

A rare porcelain 1,000-year-old bowl from the Song Dynasty in China (960-1127) sold for 31.9 million.

A lock of hair from Elvis Pressley sold for 8,000 dollars.

A diamond ring found at an English car boot sale (yard sale) in the 1980s sold for 737,716 in London.

A letter written by a passenger on the Titanic sold for 141,000.

A bag used for collecting samples from the moon by Neil Armstrong sold at auction for 1.5 million in NY.

A solid 14K gold lego brick sold for 18,498.

A large bluefin tuna sold for 580,000 at the Tsukyi market in Toyko.

The most unusual items ever sold for large sums of money at auctions ever.   I am sure there are more items that will sell for higher amounts depending on the rarity and the uniqueness of items placed on auction.
